Are you Ready for Google Analytics 4?
Google Analytics 4 Transition + PostEngine
By now, you have probably heard about Google Analytics’s transition to Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and the sunsetting of Universal Analytics (UA). On July 1, 2023, new data will no longer flow into UA properties. This change means you need to set up GA4 for your property websites to continue seeing new web traffic, including Craigslist traffic generated from PostEngine.
This transition to Google Analytics 4 will not affect the existing PostEngine tracking of your Craigslist ads until June 30th. However, after July 1st, completing this transition to Google Analytics 4 is essential to continue tracking where traffic to your property website comes from, along with the actions users are taking.
What is the difference between UA and GA4?
UA is an older version of Google Analytics, while GA 4 is newer and more advanced. The main difference is in how they track and analyze user data. UA focuses on tracking page views and sessions, providing insights into website performance. On the other hand, GA4 adopts an event-based tracking approach, allowing you to track and analyze user interactions across different platforms and devices. GA4 also incorporates advanced features like machine learning and cross-platform tracking, providing a more comprehensive understanding of user behaviour and enabling better decision-making.
How Do I Set Up Google Analytics 4?
If you currently use UA to track your website traffic and activity, the switch to GA4 should be made as soon as possible. We recommend reviewing Google’s support documentation to learn how to add GA4 to your existing Analytics account.
If you’re new to analytics, Google has helpful documentation on how to set up Google Analytics 4 for a website.
